We
offer 6-session accelerated classes. Our On-Site AutoCAD classes
are offered two times a week.
What you learn: Creating an Electronic Construction Document Set
of a building with AutoCAD. Learn important manipulation and management
tools for assembling and integrating drawings within the documentation
set. The class assignments are handled as they would be in a professional
architectural office, where class participants work as members of
a team across the computer network. When we developed our curriculum,
we started with the requirements of the AutoDesk Training Centers.
We enhanced that curriculum to provide you even more exposure to
AutoCAD -- and especially with relevant skills needed for the Construction
Industry.
Prerequisite: Fundamental working knowledge of the Windows environment
and AutoCAD I and II or instructor approval.
Course Description: This course is designed to provide students
the opportunity of working on a (simulated) real project, seeing
exactly what a professional office goes through in order to create
and assemble a complete working document set. In this course, it
is expected that participants will have reasonably strong AutoCAD
skills and that they can focus on the production aspects of assembling
and detailing a construction document set using hand-generated construction
documents as a base. This course is designed for architectural interns,
architects, EIT candidates, contractors and other design professionals
familiar with AutoCAD. We utilize AutoCAD, which is the dominant
Computer-Aided Design program used within the Construction industry.
This course teaches how to apply architectural drafting skills to
computer-aided drawings. Technical aspects of AutoCAD will be addressed
including file referencing, paper/ model space, database objects
and the relational aspects of building sections, wall sections and
architectural details. Students will develop a complete working
drawing set for a commercial project using Office Drafting Standards.
Course Project: Developing source files -- titleblocks, titleblock
components and other drafting items which must be successfully designed
and manage to optimize the CAD drafting and management process.
The class also creates as-built drawings of a commercial building
project. Develop working drawing set including site plan, floor
plan, enlarged plans, elevation, building and wall section, details
and schedules.
